Hello, hello my gorgeous curvy goddesses! I just discovered WHI's new article feature and I just had to make a post!

So in my very first article I'm going to be explaining and giving you tips and tricks on how to know what body shape you are and how to make yourself look like a 14/10 every time you dress!

Obviously, this is not to tell you how you should dress or to tell you that what you're doing is wrong, curviness has no dress code! But this is for those of you who are looking for advice to either spice up your style, to enhance some of your greatest features, or even to check whether that dress you wanted, but were too scared to buy, was the perfect dress for your beautiful body!

There are a few different types of beautiful bodies us women can have and the most common are; apple, pear, hourglass and rectangle.

In today's post we will be focusing on the apple shape, but follow this collection for the other shapes to come!

Firstly, it is important to acknowledge that women with an apple shaped body tend to have a large bust, narrow hips and a very full midsection which causes the waist to be almost non-existent. What these factors mean is that most of the weight is gathered in the stomach, back and anywhere else on the upper body, leaving your legs and backside slimmer and perhaps disproportionate to the rest of your body. What this means is that your legs are going to look killer in dresses and skirts.

So, because your waist is a little less defined, your going to want to find things that will draw more attention to your waist which in turn will balance out your top and bottom with your waistline making you look not only slimmer but also more proportionate. A great way to do this is to look for clothing with a deeper neck line and something that perhaps cinches above the waist like so;

This definitely gives back some shape to the waist, you could also try peplum tops or simply tops with low vnecks if cinching is not your favourite, which really was never one of mine, the key is also so stick to longer length tops, this help hide the fact that your torso is quite short, high-lows are not very flattering and I personally believe that only a small majority of people can pull them off, although if you can rock one then you strut your stuff baby! One more thing, loose clothing can be one of your best friends!

Now, onto the bottom portion of the body. It is important that you take into account the length of your legs when shopping. I personally have very short stumpy legs and with my apple figure I prefer to keep to either full length jeans or shorts, there is no inbetween. Capris or three-quarter length jean or leggings can make you look short and stumpy and can add lots of wight to your legs. So, keep it basic, go for some skinny jeans or leggings, but make sure they're not low rise but rather medium rise or high rise, these will give you more coverage and give you back some curves a well as help to slim the waist, this also applies to shorts, you have great legs, show them off! This brings me to skirts, try skirts that flare out and have waistbands, this will ensure to give you a slimmer looking waist. Again, go for short skirts or maxi skirts, shorter skirts will elongate you legs and make them stand out. Maxi skirts are a bit of a hit and miss, you have to have longer legs to be able to wear them, but it is also important to realise that some maxi skirts can have different lengths so always have a rummage around at the store. This brings me to my final point about skirts, even though apple shaped bodies can be awkward, never be afraid to try something tight fitting like a short pencil skirt. I for one was alway terrified of the shapeless fabric, but honestly don't knock it till you try it, for me, they cinched my waist and smoothed out any awkward bumps I had and are now my favourite fashion piece, here are some examples of styled bottoms;

Now last, but certainly not the least, dresses. Now dresses are a combination of all of the above, always look for something with a low neck and something that helps to give you waist, now here your options are limitless, I think most dresses are flattering on our body, including bodycons, although one thing to avoid is definitely ruching, this can make you look bulky in all the wrong places and remember belts are our friends! you can simply define your waist by just using a simple skinny belt, not only will it give you a chance to add cute accessories but you are going too look fly as f**k baby!
