I spend a lot of money on clothes.

And a lot of the time, when people find out how much of my paycheck goes towards mom jeans and hoodies, they feel that it's their place and their right to tell me their opinion.

More often than not, that opinion goes something like this: "You could be spending your money on something that matters, rather than wasting it on clothes."

Well, first of all, it's no one's business but my own what I spend my money on. Finances are something personal and private, and I believe that everyone has a right to protect their privacy regarding their money (and anything else they don't want to share).

And second, I don't consider buying nice clothes a waste of money. See, everyone spends money on their passions- if you're a photographer, you spend a lot of money on cameras, tripods, lighting accessories, etc. If your passion is electrical work, I can guarantee you're going to be spending a lot of money on tools. For me, fashion is something that I am passionate about.

For me, it's not just about the necessity of wearing clothes to remain "decent" (dress codes and "rules" are a whole different conversation). It's about the creation, the creativity, and the thought that goes into what I wear. Just like some people love to create paintings and films, I love creating outfits.

I spend a lot of time and resources on my clothing, accessories, and shoes, not because I am trying to impress anyone, but simply because I love creating different outfits, and being able to display and express my personality through what I wear. I don't care about what's "in" and what's "out." That's not why I spend money on clothing. Frankly, I believe that the closer you are to breaking the rules, the more fashionable you are.

For me, what I wear is a conscious decision, a way to express myself despite being quite introverted, and a creative outlet.

So, to all of those that feel the same, don't be ashamed if you spend money on your passion, and keep slaying!
