A month ago, I never expected to actually find it here given that I lived right across the world. But I did. I found a single copy of AJ's book sitting on a shelf in a local bookstore. I felt like it was meant to be.

Growing up, I never had a solid role model until I came across AJ. Her geeky and crazy chick character was so cool and genuine considering the fact that it was close to her personality, and her book made me respect her a million times more. I realized that the things she had gone through could have destroyed myself or others but instead, she fought every battle and turned all her weaknesses into strengths. She is the perfect example of the quote, "fall down seven times, get up eight." Her perseverance through poverty and mental illness is inspiring and makes you realize that you can do anything.

Like AJ, I am also diagnosed with mental illness. But like her, I want to fight through it all and be the best I could be. In other words, she is the epitome of the kind of person I was and the kind of person I want to be.

AJ has come a long way, from being a poor girl from New Jersey to becoming an author, advocate for many causes, one of the longest reigning champions, and my role model. Looking up to her is so humbling. It's one of the best feelings in the world to look up to the right people. #ThankYouAJ
