since i'm going through the emotional wringer, i thought i'd tell y'all a few things i've learned from it. i do realize that everyone copes in a different way and this might not work for everyone, but it's worth the shot i guess :)

get help
i cannot stress how important this is. your emotional health should always be a priority. there are professionals out there who have dedicated their lives to helping others. this year, i've started getting help from a school counsellor and a psychologist and it has been of the best decisions i've made. they can and will put your situation into perspective for you and give you ways to deal and cope with with your issues.

get rid of the toxic people in your life
this has been one of the hardest things i've done this year. it has taken me a long time to realize that some of the people in my life are just weighing me down. for me, some of the toxic people i had to let go of were people who made me the happiest. However, they were also the people who hurt me the most. it's hard to let go of people who make you happiest when you feel so low, i know, but you should never have to deal with people who help you then turn around and hurt you. you deserve more than that.

this saved me. it's hard to trust people and tell them how you feel. there was a point in my life where i felt so alone. i was making real bad decisions, i was at rock bottom. writing how i felt and even admitting to some of my mistakes was one of the best and most therapeutic things i have ever done. it gets some of the pent up feelings out of your system.

prioritize your mental health
i touched upon this a little already, but this is so, so, so important. to me, we are not taught to be aware of, or prioritize our mental health enough. so here i am telling you that your mental health is extremely important. if you are not okay, do not accept that. do everything you can (that's safe) to make yourself better. be aware of how you feel. if you feel low, don't dismiss or try to deal with it yourself because you don't want to bother other people or cause inconvenience. no hun, you are more than that. you're beautiful, you matter, and that kind of confidence comes back when you start to make your mental health a priority.
