  • 8. What are five passions you have?

Can you believe that we are already at 8?! I am so excited to continue writing each day to get these questions answered. Without further ado, here are 5 of my passions.

1) Reading

Books are a uniquely portable magic
-Stephen King

I absolutely love books. Reading them lets me experience different worlds and see things from different perspectives. It amazes me how with a pen and a piece of paper, someone can open their mind and express their imagination for others to enjoy. Some of my favorite reads are Harry Potter, The Selection Series, and The Hunger Games. Here's a list of books I have enjoyed reading:

Young adult:
Harry Potter-J. K. Rowling
The Selection Series-Kiera Cass
The Hunger Games-Suzanne Collins
The Fault In Our Stars-John Green
The Maze Runner-James Dashner
Under the Never Sky-Veronica Rossi
Eve - Anna Cary
Matched-Ally Condie
Narnia-C. S. Lewis
Watersong-Amanda Hocking
Heroes of Olympus-Rick Riordan
Pegasus-Kate O'Hearn
The Hobbit-J. R. R. Tolkien
The Mind Readers-Lori Brighton
Red Queen-Victoria Aveyard
You Know Where to Find Me-Rachel Cohn

2) Writing

As well as reading, I also greatly enjoy writing. This includes writing prompts, school assignments (yes, like essays), and, of course, articles!! I am truly appreciative of WHI giving the community and I the platform to express ourselves through writing.

3) Aerial Silks & Lyra

Most of you will probably not know what aerial is. That's okay. Let me show you!

Aerial Silks-
Aerial silks is a long piece of fabric that is folded over and attached to a rigging on the ceiling to create two columns on each side. In class, you will typically learn how to climb, perform poses and transitions, and even drops! I have been taking Aerial Silks classes for over 1 1/2 years now.

Aerial Lyra-
Also known as Aerial Hoop, Lyra is a large metal hoop that is attached to the ceiling by straps and rigging. In class, you will also learn how to execute poses and transitions as well as a few drops! I have been taking Aerial Lyra classes for over a year now.

4) Interior Design

If you have read my "Interior Design" article (link below) then you probably know that, after high school, I hope to go to the Art Institute of Atlanta for Interior Design! I have been on multiple college tours already and have fallen in love with the profession.

5) Helping those with disabilities and/or special needs

In my "What Makes Me Happy" article (link below) I wrote about how helping others truly makes me happy. Again, I am not saying this to gain popularity or look like a good person or anything like that. I really do absolutely enjoy helping others and a specific passion of mine is volunteering with those who have disabilities and/or special needs. I help out with my little sister's cheerleading squad with kids who have anything from Down Syndrome to Autism to prosthetics. I have also volunteered with Special Olympics, giving kids with disabilities the chance to compete and have fun.
