In Romanian mythology, balaurul (some sort of dragon) sometimes appears as a creator and watchman of the gems and gold, living on the bottom of the abysses, through the "Armenian Country". Sometimes, the dragon is the same as the Flyer, living in the air, among the clouds. Other dragons also live in the clouds, causing torrential and ice rains.

In some fairy tales, the Flying-Dragon is the only visible to the man, and comes from a serpent whose wings grow and begins to fly, and can be seen shining in the cloudy sky. Surely, at the origin of the image of the dragon in the air, especially in Romanian mythology, there are clouds that bring storms, lightning and thunder.

Usually, in the Romanian folklore, the dragon has a terrible appearance, with a large head, with 12 tongues. However, the beast has over seven heads. His mouth is so wide that he can swallow more people at a time; his eyes are bulging, his nostrils wide open, and he can throw a killing fire on the one who is fighting this terrible creature.

In the Romanian mythological fauna, the Pasărea Măiastră ( The Majestic Bird) is considered the Queen of the Birds, the Messenger of the Fairies. Like any supernatural being endowed with magical powers, it is almost unseen, its unique beauty and the celestial light it spreads only delights the eyes of those who are truly privileged. Her song, which sounds only in loneliness, is said to lengthen the life of any listener.

The Majestic Bird, a righteous bird, possessing an inexhaustible magical power, belongs to The Other Realm, living isolated and not exposing its splendid multicolored plumage, rather than very rarely. D. N. Popescu describes it as a majestic bird, whose singing surpasses all the earthly music and has the gift of guiding the future and reading in the hearts of men.
