It is heartbreaking when you feel the one person you cared about most drifting apart from you. I will tell you right now that it is NOT your fault that they left. All that you are has nothing to do with who they are becoming. And who they are becoming is a welcomed stranger.

Now don't be quick to blame. Things are going to be okay. Here are some things to remind yourself at a time like this:

1) Accept that people change.
People change and that is a fact. Just respect their decision and know you did all you could to keep the friendship strong.

2) Take time for yourself
It is a big change when you can't share parts of your life anymore with that one special person. Do all that you can to let your emotions out. You don't have to pretend everything is alright.

3) Let go.
If this person doesn't want to be your friend anymore let go. Don't fight them. It is their loss.

4) Try something new
When you're ready, you can meet a ton of new people this way and it'll be awesome I swear.

5) Get closer to current friends
Maybe this is a time to get closer to your other friends who enjoy having you around.

6) Remember that life goes on.
Give yourself grace, remind yourself that everything will be okay.

There is no doubt that you will always love them. If you're like me, you'll always have a soft spot for them in your heart. Whisper one last goodbye and hide your pictures in your closet. Everything will be alright.
