Nowadays everything is online.

For the most part, this is a good thing. We can operate more efficiently when all our files and documents are stored on one device. Work laptops that double as a fun tablet for the kids, a phone that lets you be a CEO and a professional photographer, the list goes on and on.

Arguably, the thing technology is best at, is spreading the word. News travels fast when it’s coasting on invisible waves between cellular devices. Think about it, information about other countries is at our fingertips in a matter of seconds!

So what’s so bad about our virtual world?

Our phones give us an amazing way to document what we experience, but it’s not really good for anything if all we do is stay inside on our phones everyday.

I understand this is probably ironic, posting an article about the unimportances of social media on a social media site, but this is information. We need media sites, we need people sharing art, we need the world to keep advancing technology. But in order for sites like WeHeartIt to be overflowing with pictures of beautiful sunsets and detailed architecture, the photographer must first be at those places.

My challenge to you is to use your technology in the best way possible. Make an impact; make your own art. You might even like it.
